Heated shower tile floor installation with Ditra Heat

Heated shower tile floor installation with Ditra Heat

Heated tile floors are made easier to install with Ditra Heat and less likely to have installation errors or damage. The wires are weaved through the Ditra which protects them from the surface. On this particular project we installed heat in the shower. We started with a traditional shower pan pre-pitch, installed the pan liner, Durock on the walls, and final pitch. Next we installed the Ditra and heat wires going through the curb to the main bath floor. Once the heat wires are in the installation is just like any other shower.

Just saw this, unfortunately this installation does not follow the Schluter installation guidelines. You are supposed to have Kerdi waterproofing membrane on top before you tile, otherwise the heat cable is exposed to water, which it is not supposed to be.

The heat cables can be exposed to water. It won’t affect the cables. The Kurdi waterproofing membrane is used on top of the cables with a Kurdi shower installation system, but this shower was a traditional shower pan with Ditra heat

Jeremiah, you are correct. Schluter requires waterproofing (Kerdi) atop of the Ditra heat. As well, their seems to be missing waterproofing connecting the Ditra Heat to the sidewalls & curb.
